How profiles are researched
Every profile is built from sourced references before it is published. The rule is simple: null is acceptable, guessing is not. If a field cannot be verified against a credible source, it stays blank and is listed below.
The rules
- Two or more sources per published profile, with live, followable links.
- Flavor reads, pairings, and uses are described in plain English, drawn from culinary references and our own testing, never invented to sound authoritative.
- Origin legends and folk stories are labeled as tradition, never stated as fact.
- Substitutes name a ratio and how the result will differ. No substitute is presented as exact, because none are.
- Illustrations are labeled as illustrations. We never present generated art as a photograph of a specific spice.
- We make no health claims. This is a flavor and cooking reference, not medical guidance.
What is still unverified
Every field on every published profile currently traces to a source.
